Montgomery County Police Officer Charged With Theft

He has been suspended with pay.

 

 

Rockville, Md (KM) A Montgomery County Police Office has been charged with theft less than $100, theft between $100 to under $1500, and one count of theft scheme between $100 to $1500. . Officer Jose Barahona, 25, has been suspended from duty with pay, and his police powers are also suspended.

Authorities say Barahona is suspected to stealing items from the Wal-Mart store at 20910 Frederick Road in Germantown.

On February 8th, an investigaiton began into a report of a theft at the Wal Mart. A loss prevention officer told police that a person known to him, Barahona, had stolen several itmes from the store on February 2nd. HeĀ  previously worked as a security guard at the store. The loss prevention officer also told police that he believed Barahona had attempted to steal items from the store, and had successfully stolen other items from the store while working as a security guard..

The invetsigation officer reviewed video surveillance from the Wal Mart, and observed Barahona stealing items from the Wal Mart while working as a security guard betweenm December 23rd, 2017 and Febriuary 3rd, 2018.

Barahona was hired as a Montgomery County Police Officer in October, 2014.
