Frederick County Grand Jury Indicts Two

One is facing nine charges related to sex offenses and human trafficking.

 

FREDERICK, MD. (LG)    Several people were indicted by a Frederick County Grand Jury on Friday morning. In a press release, States Attorney Charlie Smith said Carlos Roberto Ruiz-Hernandez, of Frederick is facing charges of 2nd degree rape, 3rd degree sex offense, 2nd degree assault, reckless endangerment, and 5 counts related to human trafficking and prostitution. All nine charges date to between July 30 and Aug. 7, 2016, and involve the same woman, according to authorities.

Also indicted was Kevin Joseph Cleverly, of Brunswick. Police charged him for allegedly attacking the mother of his son in the 500 block of Petersville Road after confronting the woman over her decision to move. Investigators said Cleverly entered the house without permission and confronted the woman upstairs, yelling at her and eventually putting his hands around her neck to strangle her. After freeing herself from Cleverly, the woman ran downstairs with her son, locked herself in the laundry room and called 911. Cleverly was charged with home invasion, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and third- and fourth-degree burglary.
