It will cover the highway from Rt. 550 north of Woodsboro to Carroll County line.
Woodsboro, Md. (KM). Route 194 from Route 550 north of Woodsboro to the Carroll County line will undergo resurfacing starting next week. “Crews will mill–which is the removal of the top layer of asphalt–pave and restripe Maryland 194, and also update some of the guardrail in the area, and perform some landscaping operations,” says Charlie Gischlar, a spokesman for the State Highway Administration.
“This is about five-and-a-half miles, but it should be complete by July,” he says.
SHA says about 24,000 vehicles travel that stretch of Route 194 each day.
Gischlar urges drivers who use that part of the roadway to be prepare for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. They should slow down and don’t’ follow too closely. “Motorists can expect flaggers to alternate traffic, and barrels,” he says.
Crews will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The work will be done by Pleasants Paving of Frederick at a cost of $2.3-million. “It was last resurfaced back in 1996,” says Gischlar.
