One Flown Out Following Two-Vehicle Crash In Frederick County

State Police say he has life-threatening injuries.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) One person was medivaced Thursday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash on northbound Route 15 near Catoctin Hollow Road.

At around  12-noon,  State Police say the driver of a Mazda passenger vehicle was heading northbound on Route 15 when for unknown reasons traveled off the right side of the highway, and struck a guardrail. The vehicle continued north, crossing the median and entering the southbound lanes, where the Mazda collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck.

The operator of the Mazda was taken by ambulance to the State Police hangar at Frederick Municipal Airport.. He was then was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries, troopers say.  Authorities say they are withholding his name until next of kin are notified.

The driver of the pickup, Jon Phebus, 50, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, was not hurt.

State Police are continuing their investigation of the crash, and anyone who has information is asked to contact Trooper Jeremy Hite at the Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4151. .
