Fox Named Deputy Chief

He will also serve as Director of Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, the Frederick County Council made permanent the appointment of Kevin Fox as Deputy Fire Chief, and the Director of the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services. He was named acting Deputy Chief following the retirement of Chip Jewel in December, 2017. ..

As Director of the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services, Fox will coordinate and support the work of the local fire and rescue companies.

Fox has worked as a fire fighter and EMT for more than 30 years in both career and a volunteer capacity. He was past President of the Thurmont Community Ambulance Company, and Vice President of the Guardian Hose Company. He has worked for Frederick County Government since 1990, starting out as an emergency communications dispatcher, and then in 1999, as a fire fighter for the Division of Fire and Rescue Services. For the past four years,  Fox was the Division’s spokesperson. In 2015, he was promoted to Battalion Chief.

Fox also teaches part time for the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.
