Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man who sold heroin to a teenage girl who died was sentenced on Tuesday. The State’s Attorney’s Office says Justyn Robinson-Clipper, 23, entered an Alford Plea in Circuit Court to the charge of distribution of heroin. Under an Alford Plea, he doesn’t admit guilt, but acknowledges the state has enough evidence for a conviction. The judge sentenced Robinson-Clifford to 15-years in prison.

He was charged after Alyssa Honaker, 17, was found deceased in her bed on June 4th, 2016. An autopsy determined she had died of a narcotic known as free morphine, which was complicated by acute asthma. She also consumed heroin prior to her death.

During the course of its investigation, the Sheriff’s Office found a package of heroin under the mattress on her bed.

As the investigation continued, deputies say they found Alyssa’s cell phone, and conducted a search. They found that numerous messages between Alyssa and her neighbor, Robinson-Clipper, between the afternoon of June 3rd and the morning of June 4th, 2016, where the defendant agreed to sell her heroin. The price was $60 which Honaker’s mother revealed was the exact amount of money missing from her daughter’s room.

The State’s Attorney’s Office says a statement from a witness was presented during Tuesday’s plea. At the time when emergency personnel were at Honaker’s house for an overdose, the witness said Robinson-Clipper told him that he sold her the heroin for $60 the night before. Both were across the street from theĀ  home at the time, prosecutors say.

As part of the plea, the girl’s mother, Shannon Stanley, spoke about her daughter’s life and her addictions. Stanley asked that the court hold people responsible for their actions.
