Inmate Charged with Attempted First Degree Murder of Correctional Officer

Boyds, MD (KK) – A prisoner at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Boyds has been chared with attempted first degree murder of a correctional officer.

Around 5 a.m. Sunday, an officer was assaulted by 26-year-old Edgar Alfonso Borrera. Police say Borrera punched and hit the correctional officer in the face and upper body with a weapon he made from hard plastic and a milk carton. The officer was taken to the hospital with fractured bones in his face and lacerations in his forehead.

Borrera has been charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, and second degree assault of a correctional officer.
