State troopers also found a baby in the rear of the vehicle.

Hagesrtown, Md (KM) A Hagerstown man was arrested on Saturday afternoon following a vehicle chase. Juel, Deauantae Hunt, 42, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from Baltimore County, along with possession of heroin, child neglect and numerous traffic offenses.

At around 4:43 PM, State Police say a trooper tried to stop a Hyundai Sonata along North Mulberry Street in Hagerstown because of faulty brake lights. The driver refused to stop and the trooper continued following. The pursuit went west through Hagerstown, and along Downsville Pike to Boonsboro. Troopers along the way deployed stop sticks which eventually led to the operator pulling over prior to 18548 Lappans Road.

After removing two occupants from the vehicle, State Police say an infant was found in the back seat. The baby was sleeping and was not injured. The child’s mother, identified as Kristy Lee Shoop, 39, of Hagerstown was released without being charged.

Officials with the State Police Barrack in Hagerstown say the Hyundai was a rental from Reed Rentals, Inc. The company originally reported that its vehicle was stolen, but later retracted that statement. As a result, Hunt was not charged with stolen vehicle offenses.

The State Police helicopter Trooper Three based in Frederick also assisted in the pursuit.
