The boy was treated by EMS for minor injuries
Frederick, Md. (DG) – A 57-year-old Frederick man was arrested after he was involved in an accident that injured a juvenile on a bicycle.
Frederick Police responded to the intersection of West Patrick and South Bentz Streets shortly after 11 PM on Saturday for a report of a crash in which a juvenile on a bicycle had been struck by a vehicle.
The boy was treated on scene by EMS for minor injuries and released to his parents.
Witnesses gave police a tag number, and said the driver appeared to sped up just before hitting the boy on his bike.
A short time later officers located the driver, Gary Dean Thompson.
Thompson was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, and leaving the scene of an accident.
