Frederick Pet Store Cited For Attempted To Sell A Rare Snake

DNR says the business could be fined up to $1500.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick pet store has received a citation for attempting to sell a rare snake.. Maryland Natural Resources Police say Rick’s Fish and Pets was listing a scarlet snake for sale at its store in the 1,000 of West Patrick Street.

Authorities say it’s not a venomous or endangered snake, but no one can possess it without a special permit. Commercial sales of scarlet snakes are prohibited.

The maximum fine for violators is $1500.

The reptile was seized pending the outcome a trial in District Court.
