Overturned Truck Closes I-70 for Hours

The truck was loaded with a byproduct of aluminum nitrate.

Hagerstown, Md. (DG) – An overturned tractor trailer shut down Interstate 70 for hours as crews cleaned up the scene.

Maryland State Police responded to the crash at around 4:30 PM on 70-westbound at Boyd Road in Washington County.

Police found a tractor trailer overturned in the median after being hit by another tractor trailer that failed to remain at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Jaime Floyd of Clarksburg, West Virginia, was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The truck was loaded with a byproduct of aluminum nitrate.

The interstate was closed for nearly 9 hours while police investigated the scene. Traffic was detoured through the town of Clear Spring.
