City Of Frederick To Apply Copper Sulfate To Two Bodies Of Water

It will take place next week.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick City’s Department of Public Works will be applying copper sulfate on Lake Linganore and Fishing Creek Reservoir on Wednesday morning, July 11th. Officials say the material is used to combat algae growth in both bodies of water.

The application will take place form 7:00 AM until 10:30 AM on Lake Linganore, and on Fishing Creek Reservoir from 7:30 AM untilĀ  9:00 AM.

If the chance of rain is 50% or more that week, the application will be re-scheduled.

The Public Works Department say the copper sulfate crystals will be diluted with water, and the concentration of dissolved copper will be sprayed on the shorelines.

The Lake Linganore Association and the Maryland Department of the Environment have been made aware that this application is taking place.
