One Dead, Five Injured From Single Vehicle Crash In New Windsor

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

 

 

New Windsor, Md (KM) One person was killed and five people were injured following a one-vehicle crash in New Windsor Sunday evening.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to New Windsor Road (Rt. 31) and Coe Drive at 6:35 PM. Their initial investigation revealed that the right wheels of a Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound along Route 31 west of Coe DriveĀ  went off the roadway. The driver over corrected to the left, which caused the Cherokee to rotate counterclockwise, sending it across the roadway into a grassy shoulder, striking an embankment.

The operator identified as Daniel William Wood, 23, of New Windsor was taken to Carroll Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead. Three of the passengers, a 21-year-old woman from Union Bridge, a 21-year-old woman from Freeland, Maryland, and a 22-year-old man from Hampstead, were medivaced to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.. Their injuries are not considered life threatening, according to authorities.

Another passenger, a 22-year-old man from New Windsor,. went by ambulance to Sinai Hospital. .His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A fifth person was treated at the scene and released.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene, and is continuing its investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this accident is asked to contact the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. They can call Corporal Miller at 410-396-5900.
