National Night Out 2018

It’s taking place at 4 different locations in Frederick City on Tuesday, August 7.

FREDERICK, MD. (LG)  National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer. The event is being held at 4 different locations in Frederick on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“We will be holding it at Carrollton Park, Hillstreet Park, Lucas Village Community and Mullinex Park,” said Michele Bowman, Public Information Coordinator for Frederick City Police.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.

“There will be activities, demonstrations, and children’s activities.  We’re gonna have some food at each location, so we’re encouraging the community to come out, and we’re going to have a great night.”

The Thurmont Police Department will also be hosting their National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Thurmont Police Department complex.  Authorities say they will be dedicating a Stone Memorial in honor of all Law Enforcement Officers.

National Night Out has been celebrated since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada.
