The former county commissioner is running again for elected office.
Frederick, Md. (KM) – A former Frederick County Commissioner is running for one of two at-large seats on the County Council.
Democrat Kai Hagen was a commissioner from 2006-2010. Even though he’s has been out of elected office for a few years, Hagen said he has kept up with local issues.
“Some people run for office, they serve, and they’re gone. I was very involved before I ran, while I was serving, and I’ve stayed just as involved in many different (local) issues from solid waste to affordable housing since I was a county commisioner,” Hagen stated.
Hagen says if elected, his top priorities will be education and public safety.
“I’m also concerned about sustainable economic development and affordable housing. We have a large percentage of our population that is struggling, (living) paycheck to paycheck is a problem, in order to meet the demands of daily life and deal with the cost of housing, healthcare, daycare, and transportation among other thing,” Hagen says.
Hagen has lived in Frederick County for 23 years. He’s been married for 38 years, and is the father of two sons.
