Get To Know Shannon Bohrer

Bohrer is a democract running for a seat on the Frederick County Council

Frederick, Md. (DG) – Political newcomer Shannon Bohrer will be on the ballot for the general election this November. Bohrer is running for the Frederick County Council District 5 seat.

“We live on a small farm, the name of the farm is ‘Winterbelt’ in northern Frederick County, we very much like where we live. My wife is retired from nursing, and I had a full-time career, 42 years in law enforcement; 27 with the Maryland State Police, then I taught at the FBI Academy for four years before I ended up as the range master for the training comission for the last 11 years. Since retiring, I’ve part-time, consulting and teaching.”

Bohrer said this is the right time to run for office.

“We all make jokes and complaints about our government, it’s a national pastime; and I’m no different. At the same time, we are responsible for our government, I feel the citizens are. My wife and I participated in government to the extent of putting signs in our yard, contributed to some campaigns, but never really ran. Now that I’m retired, I have time; and I feel it’s time to step up. I’ve had a good life, and I should pay it back in some way.”

If elected he plans to focus on growth, managed growth, and planned-managed growth. He faces Republican Michael Blue for the District 5 seat.
