Get To Know Susan Reeder – Jessee

Reeder-Jesse has been a bench scientist for ten years at Fort Detrick and other local companies.

Frederick, Md. (LG) – A lifelong resident of Frederick County is running for an at large seat on the Frederick County Council.

Susan Reeder Jesse says she grew up watching both of her parents, Bruce and Odette Reeder, serve in public office.

“I have two brothers, Bruce and Chuck Reeder who still live in Frederick County, and I have a sister who was killed in 1977; so that had an impact on me. I’m a graduate of Governor Thomas Johnson High School and Hood College with two degrees; one in biology. I went back to school full-time at night (while working) and got my M.B.A. I have been married to my husband, Lawrence, for 33 years, and I have two (adult) children, Matthew and Emily, who both live in Frederick County,” says Reeder-Jessee.

This election campaign will not be the Democratic candidate’s first. She ran for the same seat unsuccessfully in 2014, which she said stoked her desire to be involved in public policy.

“In 2014, I found this passion when I ran for County Council (at-large), and the feeling of wanting to serve never left me,” Reeder Jessee said. “I deeply feel this is what I’m meant to do, and won’t give up, so that’s why I’m trying again.”

Reeder-Jesse has been a bench scientist for ten years at Fort Detrick and other local companies.

“I have over 15 years business development theories working with all levels inside and outside the organization to solve problems, and get the job done, while working on multi-million dollar budgets and strategic planning.”

The General Election is on November 6th.
