Suspect Charged In New Market Stabbing

Victim was last listed in stable condition.

 

 

New Market, Md (KM) The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has charged a New Market man in connection with a stabbing Wednesday night. Alexander Astudillo, 33, was arrested after the owner of the Blue Sky Bar on Old National Pike was stabbed in the abdomen.

On Wednesday evening at around 8:30, deputies and emergency medical services personnel  responded to the Blue Sky Bar  for a stabbing. They found the victim, identified as Mark Paxton, 56, the owner of the bar, being assisted by staff and patrons;  and Astudillo being detained by other staff and patrons.

Authorities say Astudillo was in the bar and began to act inappropriately to the wait staff. Paxton confronted Astudillo, and an argument ended up with Paxton being stabbed in the abdomen.

EMS crews prepared both men for transport to the  hospital  . They were taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Astudillo was released from the hospital., and was taken into custody by deputies, who charged him with 1st- and 2nd-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.   At last word, Paxton still remains at Shock Trauma in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing into this incident.
