Walkersville Man Jumps off American Legion Bridge to Avoid Accident

Frederick, MD (KK) – A Walkersville man is recovering in the hospital after jumping off the American Legion Bridge Sunday morning.

Just before 6 a.m., 43-year-old Toray Guider hit the guardrail and his car overturned in the first two lanes of the Capital Beltway. An off duty firefighter stopped to help. Moments later, a car hit Guider’s vehicle which then hit the firefighter’s vehicle. First responders found Guider about 50 feet below the American Legion Bridge in a grassy area. Police believe Guider jumped off the American Legion Bridge to avoid the second accident.

All three people were taken to the hospital. Guider is in stable condition.

The investigation into the crashes is ongoing.
