During the traffic stop, the officer smelled the odor of alcohol
Frederick, Maryland (DG) – A local elected leader was arrested over the weekend for driving under the influence and driving while impaired.
Saturday shortly after 2 AM, Derek Shackelford, 48, was pulled over by a Frederick City Police Officer on Rosemont Avenue for having an inoperable headlight.
During the traffic stop, the officer smelled the odor of alcohol and asked Shackelford to complete a standardized field sobriety test. After the test, Shackelford was arrested.
Shackelford is a Frederick City Alderman.
