Police Arrest Man With Loaded Gun During Traffic Stop

A K-9 was called to the scene and conducted search of the car, alerting officers to the odor of drugs.


Frederick, Maryland (DG) – Frederick Police arrested a Hagerstown man with a loaded gun during a traffic stop on Friday night.

Officers pulled over Dalonte Antonio Johnson near W. Patrick Street and Grove Hill Road, after observing a traffic violation.

A K-9 was called to the scene and conducted search of the car, alerting officers to the odor of drugs.

A small amount of marijuana was found in the vehicle.

Before Johnson got out of the car, he informed police he had a weapon under his seat.

Officers found a loaded black Ruger LCP .380 semi-automatic handgun under the driver’s seat. During their investigation, officers discovered Johnson was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of a regulated firearm as a prohibited possessor, carry and transport of a handgun in a vehicle, and possession of ammunition.
