Weekend Heavy Rain Causing Overflow At Frederick’s Waste Water Treatment Plant

Officials say the city’s water is safe to use.

Frederick, Md (KM) Officials with the City of Frederick say the heavy rainfall over the weekend has caused the overflow of wastewater at the municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant. The overflow is taking place in front of the wastewater treatment plant into Carrol Creek, immediately upstream from the Monocacy River.

Signs have been posted urging residents to avoid the area where the overflow is occurring.

The drinking water supply is not affected by this incident, and it’s safe to use, officials say.
