Local First Responders Deployed to Help With Hurricane Florence

The team consists of K-9’s, first responders, medics, and engineers.


Rockville, Md. (DG) – Maryland Task Force 1 is going to South Carolina as Hurricane Florence bears down on the East Coast.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said the 80-member team has first responders from Montgomery, Frederick, Howard, and Prince Georges Counties.

“Maryland Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team from FEMA have been planning and prepping to be deployed over the course of the last day or so,” Piringer said. “We have been on stand by, but late last night MEMA and FEMA were able to coordinate our activation.”

The team consists of K-9’s, first responders, medics, and engineers. They are totally self-sufficent and will be deployed for 10-14 days.
