Hagerstown, Md (KM) You could say two Maryland State Troopers were literally the difference between life and death for one man involved in a vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

State Police in Hagerstown say a call went out at around 2:34 PM for a single vehicle crash along Sharpsburg Pike (Rt. 65) south of Colonel Henry Douglas Drive. . A Red Volvo went off the road and crashed into a concrete barrier.

Upon arriving on the scene, Sergeant Shaffer requested medics be dispatched because the driver may have overdosed on heroin or opioids, and was unconscious.

Shaffer and Sergeant Brown removed the operator from the car. They said he had no pulse. NARCAN was administered and the two sergeants performed CPR on the man until other police officers and medics arrived.

Medics continued CPR and the man regained consciousness. He was taken to Meritus Medical Center for further treatment.
