Woman Who Struck Pedestrian With Her Car Not At Fault, Police Now Say

Frederick Police say its original report was in error.

Frederick, Md. (KM) Frederick Police have released some updated information on a pedestrian accident early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the intersection of West Patrick Street and Willowdale Drive just after 2:00 AM where a pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle. He was treated by medics and taken to the hospital.

Police originally said Jessica Jane Reis of Frederick, who was the driver of the striking vehicle, was at fault, and she was charged with driving under the influence, and driving while intoxicated. While Reis was intoxicated at the time of the accident, authorities say Reis being the at fault was an error. They now say the pedestrian was at-fault. He was issued citations for failing to properly cross at an intersection.

Police are asking anyone who has further information about this incident to contact the Frederick Police Department. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call the Tip Line at 301-600-TIPS (8477). They can also send an e-mail to [email protected], or send a text to 240-674-TIPS (8477).
