Chamber Of Commerce President Says Proposed Office Park In Urbana Will Favorably Impact The County’s Economy

It’s expected to bring in 900 new jobs.

Frederick, Md (KM). It’s a “game changer.” That’s how Frederick County Chamber of Commerce President Rick Weldon describes an office park   proposed for Urbana.

It’s planned for 20-acres along Bennett Creek Boulevard between the Fannie Mae Data Center and the General Services Administration’s  Social Security Data Center, which is not too far form the Interstate 270 and Route 80 interchange.

The Planning Commission on Wednesday approved the site plan for the project. “So that’s a 279,000 square foot office, laboratory, research facility that’s going to built down in Urbana,” says Weldon. “And eventually employ 900 high tech jobs.”

Weldon says that will mean fewer residents traveling down I-270 to work in Montgomery County and other locations in the immediate Metro Washington area.

The name of the developer of this project is being kept secret for a while.

The approval granted by the Planning Commission is good for three years.
