It happened in Washington County.
KEEDYSVILLE, MD. (LG) The investigation is continuing into the death of a 16 year old juvenile who was killed over the weekend in an all-terrain-vehicle accident.
“This incident is still currently under investigation. We had a re-constructionist come out to the scene and he is still investigating the incident,” said Deputy 1st Class Carly Hose, Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
According to investigators, John Richard Seabolt, Jr., of Keedysville, and another juvenile were both riding separate 4-wheelers northbound, in the 5600 block of Mt. Briar Road, when they attempted to make a turnaround to head southbound. “That’s when Seabolt’s vehicle struck the utility pole,” said Deputy Hose.
A number of medic units responded. There was also another medical emergency at the scene. “The other juvenile complained of neck pain, but his vehicle was not involved in the accident, nor did his 4 wheeler strike anything,” she continued.
It is against the law to ride 4-wheelers on roadways, Deputy Hose added.
“ATV’s are not suppose to be ridden on roadways. They are not registered motor vehicles, and in addition we ask that folks, when they are riding them, to wear the proper protective gear.”
Deputy Hose said Seabolt was not wearing protective gear.
