Accident Sends Motorcyclist to Shock Trauma

The roadway was shut down for about two hours while the accident scene was investigated.


Hagerstown, Md. (DG) – An accident between a car and a motorcycle sent a 58-year-old man from Funkstown to Shock Trauma on Sunday evening.

Maryland State Police report Donna Simmers, 53, was driving a Chevy Equinox and trying to turn left into a business in the area of Jefferson Blvd and Old Georgetown Road just before 5 PM.

Simmers failed to yield the right of way, and was struck by a Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by Richard Plunkard.

Plunkard was ejected from the motorcycle. He was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment.

Simmers was not injured. The roadway was shut down for about two hours while the accident scene was investigated.
