Route 355 Near Monocacy National Battlefield To Be Re-Routed

It’s part of the replacement of the bridge over the railroad tracks.

Frederick, Md (KM) Maryland Route 355 will be re-routed in the area of the Monocacy National Battlefield. The National Park Services says it’s part of the State Highway Administration’s replacement of the bridge over the CSX Railroad tracks near the historic site.

The construction of a temporary bridge, the first phase of the project begun October, 2017, was recently completed which will divert traffic around the old bridge. It will remain in place until construction of a new bridge over the tracks is finished. That’s expected by the fall of 2019..

The Park Service says access to the New Jersey Monument off of Route 355 will remain closed for the duration of the project.

The Monocacy National Battlefield Park consists of six historic properties covering 1,651 acres, and welcomed over 100,000 visitors in 2017.
