The man was convicted of sex abuse of a minor in Frederick County
Jessup, Md. (DG) – Maryland State Police are investigating the death of an inmate who was convicted of sex abuse of a minor in Frederick County.
A correctional officer found 44-year-old David Stephenson lying on the floor of his cell at the Jessup prison in Anne Arundel County on Friday November 2nd. He was unresponsive and had obvious trauma. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. His cell mate was examined, but did not require medical treatment.
Stephenson’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
Homicide investigators say they expect to file murder charges soon.
Stephenson, of Union Bridge, was serving a 20-year sentence for a conviction of sexual abuse of a minor in 2010. He had led a Maryland sign language interpreting business, and was found to have been sexually abusing two boys over several years.
