The purpose is to prevent environment related health problems.

FREDERICK, MD.    Effective Tuesday, November 13, 2018, the Frederick Community Action Agency (FCAA) will be opening and operating a “Day Shelter” to provide protection and respite to people who are experiencing homelessness, and may be on the streets during the daytime hours.

The Day Shelter program will be operated on a temporary basis through the winter of 2018-2019. The purpose of the Day Shelter is to prevent environment-related health problems such as hypothermia and frostbite. In addition, FCAA staff will be available to evaluate needs and link people to resources such as overnight shelters, meal programs, health care, disability benefits, and subsidized housing.

The temporary Day Shelter will be housed in the FCAA Activities Room. The hours of the Day Shelter are: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Day Shelter will be closed on a daily basis from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. during which time a free lunch meal is served at the Frederick Rescue Mission.
