Current Council Held Its Last Meeting On Tues., Nov. 13th

President Bud Otis says the new Council will take up Monocacy River Plan.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Last Tuesday’s meeting of the Frederick County Council was the final one for the board’s current members. That’s according to a statement issued by Council President Bud Otis.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the Council discussed the proposed Monocacy Scenic River Plan.  Otis  says it’s best that the new members of the Council take up this issue after they are sworn into office on December 3rd..

In his statement, he  said that the River Plan has been a “contentious issue, polarizing farmers, land owners and environmentalists. It will be suited for the next Council to address this issue.”

The Council was originally scheduled to take a vote on the plan on November 20th.

In his statement, Otis urged the new Council to listen to all citizens when they speak on this issue, and come up with a plan that can provides safe drinking water for residents, and secures property rights. “It’s a beautiful river, our natural resource, and we must work together to preserve its vitality,:” he said.

“I wish the very best for the citizens of Frederick County and the new Council in the next term,” Otis said as he concluded his statement. “It has been quite an honor to serve  all of you.”
