The deadline is March 1, 2018.
Frederick, MD (November 30, 2018) – – Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) is improving procedures to better serve students whose families seek to enroll them in a school that is out of the attendance area where they live. The FCPS Assignment and Transfer of Students Regulation 400-15 is revised to include new application dates. Parents who wish to apply for a child to attend a school outside the usual attendance area must do so between January 2nd and March 1st, prior to each new school year.
In the prior version of the regulation in place last year, the application window was April 1-May 31. In 2019, FCPS will post applications Wednesday, January 2, due by Friday, March 1, 2019, at www.fcps.org in the section labeled For Families and Students. Anyone needing a paper copy may call 240-236-2493 January 2nd or after.
As in the past, transfers from out-of-district students are prohibited at some schools. Each year, FCPS publishes a list of schools projected to reach or exceed capacity when the next school year begins in September. Schools where enrollment is projected to reach or exceed 100% capacity restrict their enrollment only to students who live in the school attendance area. After December 1, FCPS will post a list of schools that are restricted for the 2019-2020 school year.
