Man Charged With Soliciting Child Pornography

He was arrested last week at UMBC campus.

Frederick, Md (KM) Charges of solicitation of child pornography and child pornography permit sex subject have been filed against an Adamstown man. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says Jake Tyler Patterson,21, was taken into custody without incident on Friday at the University of Maryland Baltimore County campus on an open warrant.

Authorities say the investigation began in August into an individual who was sexually soliciting minors through the app Snapchat. A detective was able to identify Patterson as the suspect through court order subpoenas, search warrants and assistance from the FBI.

Federal agents, along with Baltimore County Police and University of Maryland Police,  assisted the Sheriff’s Office in taking Patterson into custody.

During an interview in Baltimore County following his arrest, the Sheriff’s Office says Patterson made a confession.

He was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
