Two Indicted By Frederick County Grand Jury

Their cases now move to Circuit Court.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Grand Jury handed down two indictments on Friday. James Warren Compton, 37, of Clear Spring,  is charged with 2nd-degree rape, 3rd-degree sex offense and sexual solicitation of a minor.

The Sheriff’s Office says Compton was arrested on November 25th, 2018, after he agreed to meet with a 12-year-old girl at Rocky Ridge Municipal Park for sex acts. The victim told authorities she and Compton communicated over Snapchat.; he claimed he was 14-years-old. She also told investigators that Compton had sexual intercourse with her after he picked her from her grandmother’s house in Pennsylvania, and took her to his home in Emmistburg. .

Also indicted was James Kenneth Simms, 19, of Baltimore. He’s charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of heroin, and possession with intent to distribute and possession of fentanyl.

Simms was arrested on November 26th, 2018. The Sheriff’s Office says Simms and three people had arranged to sell $2,000 worth of heroin to undercover deputies. Authorities confiscated 31-grams of heroin and a handgun with an obliterated serial number.

Andre Nelson, also of Baltimore, was arrested during that time for firearms offenses. In addition, two juveniles were apprehended. They were turned over to the Department of Juvenile Services.

These indictments forward both cases to the Circuit Court where a trial date will be scheduled.
