Serious Accident Closes 70 in Hancock

Five vehicles were involved


Hancock, Md. (DG) – Two accidents involving five vehicles closes 70 westbound for several hours on Monday.

Maryland State Police are reporting an accident happened in Hancock near the 2-mile marker around 10 AM. The vehicles involved pulled off to the left shoulder, and were partially in the roadway.

Shortly after that collision, a car was trying to pass a tractor trailer on 70 west and struck one of the vehicles involved in the first accident. That vehicle then hit one of the drivers involved in the first crash.

One person was flown to shock trauma for treatment, and another was transported to Meritus Medical Center.

The interstate was closed for several hours. The accident remains under investigation.
