Driver fled and was later arrested
Charles Town, WV (DG) – A Maryland man was killed in West Virginia on Monday afternoon when he was hit by a vehicle along 340 near Halltown Road.
The Jefferson County Sheriffs Office is reporting 60-year-old William Snyder Sr. from Parkville, Maryland, pulled his car over on 340 around 2:30 PM.
When Snyder stepped out of the vehicle, he was hit by a black Toyota SUV. Snyder was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The driver of the Toyota fled. He was later located and arrested in Warren County, Virginia.
The driver is identified as 45-year-old Kenneth Lee from Strasburg, Virginia. Lee has been charged with driving under the influence in Virginia.
Lee is expected to remain in jail in Virginia pending extradition to West Virginia, where he faces additional charges.
