Police Charge Suspect In Public Storage Burglary

He’s currently in custody in another jurisdiction.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A suspect has been identified in connection with last year’s burglary of Public Storage at 396 Prospect Boulevard in Frederick. Police have charged Dakevis Larry Maryland,36, of Glen Burnie with 58 counts of 2nd-degree burglary;  58 counts of 4th-degree burglary;  three counts of malicious destruction property under $1,000;  two counts of malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $25,000; two counts of theft under $100; 36 counts of theft between $100 and $1500; 15 counts of theft between $1500 and $25,000. and one count of theft scheme between $25,000 and $100,000.

Authorities responded to Public Storage in October, 2018. and found 250  storage areas were broken into. Property with a total value of $88,000 had been stolen. Investigators say the stolen property belonged to 58 people.

Police say they served a warrant on Maryland for a DNA sample, and it matched the DNA recovered at the scene.

The detective assigned to the case is in the process of locating and contacting all 58 victims.

Maryland is currently being held in another county on unrelated charges.
