WV Man Charged With Robbery In Washington County

He was arrested following a traffic stop.

 

 

Hagerstown, Md (KM) A West Virginia man was arrested in Washington County for holding up two businesses. The Sheriff’s Office says Wade Neff Grove, 49 of Falling Waters is charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted robbery, armed robbery, 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault and theft between $100 to $1500.

Authorities say Grove is a suspect in the attempted armed robbery of the McDonald’s restaurant in Clear Spring on Tuesday. . At around 9:48 PM, an individual walked into the McDonald’s at 12820 Clear Spring Road, pretending to have a handgun in his pocket. He demanded money, but employees said they could not open the cash register. The individual left in a vehicle.

At 10:22 PM, a man entered the Super 8 Motel at 16805 Blake Road in Hagerstown, pretending he was armed with a handgun and demanded money. After receiving a undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled.

In both cases, the vehicle used in these two  incidents  was grey Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Grove was arrested following a traffic stop on East Washington Street in Hagerstown. Deputies say Grove who was a passenger in the vehicle was observed wearing the same clothing he had on when he robbed the Super Eight.. The clothing he wore when he attempted to rob the Mc-Donald’s was inside the vehicle.

Grove was taken into custody.
