Emergency Road Work Taking Place On Md. 77

It will be closed on Friday.

Thurmont, Md (KM) If you normally travel Maryland 77 (Foxville Road) in the Thurmont area, that road is closed between Catoctin Hollow Road and Tower Road due to emergency road work. “We had a drainage pipe that actually failed across the roadway, and created a six-foot void on Foxville Road just to the west of Catoctin Hollow Road right in the heart of the Cummingham Falls State Park,”: says SHA  spokesman Charlie Gischlar. “So we had to shut it down to get emergency roadwork on it.”

Gischlar says the work will involve replacing the failing pipe, as well as backfill and paving the affected ares of the road.

He says this work is expected to be completed by Friday evening, but that section of Maryland 77 will be closed through Saturday morning. . Detours have been set up.

SHA says about 3,300 drivers use that stretch of Route 77 each day.
