Two Agreements Provide Discounted Tuition At Mount’s Frederick Campus

The discounts go into affect this summer.

Frederick, Md (KM). Two agreements signed by Mount Saint Mary’s University could help students complete their college educations.

Under one of the agreements, students at Montgomery College who have completed their their associate degrees can work toward a bachelor’s degree at the Mount’s Frederick Campus at a 20% discount of tuition. Jennifer Staiger, Ph.D, the Associate Provost of Mount Saint Mary’s Division of Graduate, Professional and Continuing Education Studies, says the discounted tuition covers courses in accounting, business administration, criminal justice, elementary/special education, and human services. “It includes both our adult undergraduate programs as well as our graduate degrees in education, business and science,” she says.

“Montgomery College is thrilled to be partnering with Mount St. Mary’s University on this agreement,” says Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard, in a statement.. “By increasing opportunities for affordable higher education, we are together building the pipeline for achievement in Maryland. That serves our communities and neighborhoods as well as strengthening individuals’ futures.”

Staiger says a similar agreement was signed between the Mount and the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, which covers Chamber employees, and members. “And many of them {members}  will have individual employees that would be interested in either pursuing a class because there’s something they’re trying to do in their small business, or even perhaps a degree,” she says.

In addition to pursuing an undergraduate degree, Staiger says this discount can apply to graduate studies. “Those students, if they are to complete their undergraduate degree with us, and want to keep going without a break, they will be able to continue to use that 20% tuition reduction into their graduate program as well,” she says.

The 20% tuition reduction goes into affect during the Summer 2019 semester. It does not apply to books, supplies, fees or other costs associated with a program.
