Drainage Work Expected To Begin This Month At I-270/Rt. 118

SHA urges motorists who  travel that area to stay alert.

Frederick, Md (KM) Crews are expected to begin work this month along Interstate 270 at Route 118, or Germantown Road.

Charlie Gischlar, a spokesman for the Maryland State Highway Administration, says personnel will be upgrading and improving the drainage system in that area. “Work is going to take place Mondays through Fridays from between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Sunday nights through Friday mornings  from 8:00 PM till 5:00 AM,” he says.

Drivers who travel that area of I-270 are urged to be alert.  . “Motorists can expect narrow ramp lanes during construction with some weekend total loop ramp closures for pipe crossings,” says Gischlar. “There may be also some additional single lane closures during off peak hours on main line I-270.”

That main line I-270 is between  the Watkins Mill and Route 118 interchanges.

“And, of course, there’s going to be the occasional weekends we have to have do  some ramp closures and detours within the interchange to do the pipe crossings,” says Gischlar.

The project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2020 at a cost of $906,000.

The contractor for this project is Old Line Construction of Dunkirk, Md.
