It is suggested you check smoke detectors and refresh your emergency supplies.

Frederick – 3/9/19 (RD) Frederick County emergency preparedness partners, including the Department of Emergency Preparedness, the Health Department, Division of Fire & Rescue Services, law enforcement agencies, and the American Red Cross, unite to issue the following reminder. When it is time to change your clocks due to daylight saving time on Sunday, March 10, it is also time to refresh your emergency supplies.

Public safety officials encourage families and businesses to change the batteries in their smoke alarms if they are equipped with replaceable batteries and to refresh their emergency supply kits.

Make sure the kit isn’t missing any items and that the food or medications have not expired. For those who have not prepared a kit, now is the time to create one.

The basic emergency kit should contain items such as: water, non-perishable food, flashlight, a battery-powered or hand-crank radio, extra batteries, first aid kit, medications, copies of personal documents and medical information, mobile device chargers, family and emergency contact information, emergency blankets and a seasonal appropriate change of clothes.
