Frederick Man Arrested After His Car Struck A Police Cruiser

Police say he was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man has been charged with driving under the influence and other offenses after his car struck a police cruiser.

Authorities say an officer was traveling northbound on Hillcrest Drive Friday shortly after 11 PM, when his marked patrol vehicle was struck by a Ford Mustang. The Mustang did not stop, and the driver sped up the vehicle as he attempted to leave the scene.

The officer followed the Mustang into a parking lot of a shopping center at 1080 West Patrick Street until it reached end of the lot. .

Alfredo Antonio Guzman Barrera, 26, of the 300 block of West Thornhill Place, was taken into custody. He’s charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, attempting to elude by failing to stop and failing to stop after a property damage accident.

The officer whose cruiser was struck was not injured, police say.
