Two Recent House Fires Ruled Accidental

In one fire, there were two injuries.

Frederick, Md. (KM) The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office says the cause of two recent houses fires was accidental.

On Saturday afternoon, March 2nd, 50 fire fighters responded to the 16600 block of Buck Lantz Road near Sabillasville for a house on fire. When they arrived, fire fighters found the two-story single family home fully involved in flames. They spent 45-minute bringing the flames under control, and an additional two hours to fully put out the fire.. Officials say fire suppression efforts were hampered by the structure being a  1900 log style house, and fire fighters had to fight the fire from the exterior of the home.

Damage is estimated at $100,000. One fire fighter and a civilian were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to fire officials.

Investigators say the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.

A second house fire took place during the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 6th in the 100 block of Wheeler Lane in Frederick. The Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that  fire to be electrical in nature. Damage is estimated at $75,000.
