Mid-Maryland Petapalooza Pet Expo Coming Up

It’s taking place on April 27th at the Frederick Fairgrounds.

FREDERICK, MD.  (LG)   An event for animal lovers and anyone thinking about adding an animal to their life is happening at the Frederick Fairgrounds on April 27th.

“There are several non profits involved this year, including, Tip Me Frederick, The Friends for Life Cat Rescue, and the Frederick County Humane Society. Our goal is to work together and to bring light to other organizations that are helping animals, and to have a fun day,” said Connie Graf, Director FCHS.

“This will be the 3rd event that we’ve put on. We will have rescues, vendors, we have a vet coming out. We have demonstrations going on. There will be food, music, silent auctions and a lot of fun things to do,” she continued.

“We will have the K-9 officers from Frederick County. We had a great attendance the first year, and last year we had well over one thousand people. We hope it grows even more this year.”

In 2018, there were over 2,000 attendees and officials are anticipating to exceed that number for this year.   Last year the non-profits raised over $5,000 to benefit animal welfare organizations.  “The Montgomery County Cat Coalition will be present on that day. A lot of great services. There’s a lot to learn from it.”

“This year we are working on a rescue runway. It’s like a fashion show. Last year we had the hotdog search where a lot of dogs went out to try and find the hotdogs. We had a kissing contest and a Hula Hoop contest. That was a lot of fun.”

The event will be housed in three buildings at the Frederick Fairgrounds. “Animals are welcomed to attend. They have to be on a leash and have proof of Rabies vaccination.”

Over 100 exhibits will be on display. The event will l be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
