Frederick Man Arrested For Hit & Run Accident

He’s also charged with trying to disarm a police officer.

 

Frederick, Md (KM). A Frederick man has been charged following a hit and run accident Monday evening which resulted in an injury. Leonardo Augustin Carrera Sanchez, 34, is charged with 2nd-degree assault, disarming a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, failure to stop after a property damage accident and failure to return and remain and the scene of involving bodily injury.

Police say an officer responded to a personal injury accident at North McCain Drive and West Patrick Street shortly at around 8:08 PM. The victim said his vehicle was struck by a second vehicle which left the scene. Witnesses provided officers with a license plate number of the striking vehicle. The victim was treated at the scene and released.

At around 9:27 PM, officers found the striking vehicle parked along Waverly Drive with Carrerra Sanchez asleep inside. Authorities say Carrerra Sanchez refused commands by officers to get out of the car. During a struggle, police say the suspect tried to disarm one of the officers. He was eventually removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.

Carrera Sanchez was transported to the Adult Detention Center.
