Name Of Sheriff’s Deputy Involved In Police Shooting In Thurmont Released

He remains on administrative leave.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the deputy involved in the fatal police shooting early Monday morning, March 25th, in Thurmont. He’s Sergeant Kevin Riffle whose been with the Sheriff’s Office for 13 years. He remains on administrative leave pending the outcome an investigation into the incident.

Authorities say Abraham Arellano, 26, of Thurmont was seen by officers walking down Sandy Spring Lane with a gun in his hand.. Police had been dispatched to the area to investigate reports of a residential break-in. Arellano was shot after refusing commands to drop the handgun. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Investigation into this incident is continuing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
