West Virginia law enforcement agencies will participate in the event.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, WV (LG) A charity basketball game to benefit the Safe Haven Child Advocacy Center is taking place on Thursday, April 11th, 2019. Safe Haven works every day to bring justice, hope, and healing to children who are victims of abuse in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
Every year, children and families come to Safe Haven in the aftermath of an allegation of abuse or a violent crime. For some, the path to healing is clear, and for others, the obstacles may seem insurmountable.
“They help us out tremendously with getting information and talking with kids so they feel comfortable, with no pressure down, versus talking at the police station,” said Sgt. Robert Sell, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. “The other process that we are helping out with is the Kidz Power Pacs, which does lunches and other food items for kids across the county.”
The Battle of the Badges event will be held at the Jefferson High School, located at 4141 Flowing Springs Rd, Shenandoah Junction, WV 25442. ” Doors open at 6 pm with tip off at 7 pm,” added Sgt. Sell. “We’re asking for a donation of $2 or a non-perishable food item.”
