Frederick Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop

He was taken into custody after resisting arrest; police used OC  spray to subdue him.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man has been charged with drug offenses and resisting arrest. Troyvonte Burns, 26, was arrested last Thursday evening.

Police say an officer on routine patrol at around  6:33 PM noticed Burns backing his car out of a driveway along West South Street without coming to a stop before entering the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop. He noticed a strong odor of unburned marijuana coming from the vehicle.

After Burns was placed under arrest, authorities say he resisted. Other officers came to assist, but Burns continued to resist until he was sprayed with OC spray.

Police say eight clear bags of suspected cocaine, one clear bag of heroin, and a  gelcap containing suspected heroin were located inside Burns’ vehicle following a search.

Burns was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing. He’s charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and opium, possession of narcotics (not marijuana), and resisting and interfering in an arrest.
